About Rachel Cronin
Rachel teaches online meditation classes and programs, both Buddhist and secular, to international students, and weekly mindfulness sessions at a substance-use treatment center in East Vancouver, BC.
For over 20 years, she is grateful to have studied with teachers in India and North America in all three vehicles of Buddhism, culminating in years of immersion in Gelug/Kagyu approaches to Mahāmudrā and in the Nyingma Dzogchen tradition.
She has also trained in depth with teachers who research and practice at the intersection of neuroscience and Buddhism, and she graduated from the Engaged Mindfulness Institute’s trauma-informed mindfulness training with the intention to practice with and learn from under-served and under-represented communities.
Her past career as a professional actor in theatre and television and her lifelong immersion in the arts have also deeply informed her meditation practice and teaching, including through an experiential understanding of the parallels between an artist’s receptivity to a space of inspiration and insight, and a contemplative’s receptivity to a space of lucidity and warmth that is our mind’s deep nature.
Rachel’s current close teachers include Lama John Makransky of Sustainable Compassion Training, and Doug Veenhof of The Center for Contemplative Research.
