awareness ~ mindfulness ~ compassion
Rachel is grateful to have studied with teachers in India and North America in all three vehicles of Buddhism, culminating in years of immersion in Gelug/Kagyu approaches to Mahāmudrā and in the Nyingma Dzogchen tradition. She has also trained in depth with teachers who research and practice at the intersection of neuroscience and Buddhism, and graduated from the Engaged Mindfulness Institute’s trauma-informed mindfulness training with the intention to practice with and learn from under-served and under-represented communities. She ongoingly studies closely with Lama John Makransky of Sustainable Compassion Training, and with Doug Veenhof of The Center for Contemplative Research, and teaches online meditation programs, both Buddhist and secular, to international students, and mindfulness classes at a residential substance-use treatment center in East Vancouver. Her passion is in practices that support us in recognizing and resting in the lucid space and warmth of our basic being, the ground of our awareness, the unchanging depth that we most essentially are, with its felt qualities of innate openness, profound dignity, spontaneous presence, wisdom, and unbiased care.
